POCLAD - Program on Corporations, Law and Democracy

POCLAD is thirteen writers, educators, activists, former elected officials, directors of environmental, labor and human rights organizations, union organizers, and researchers scattered around the country who formed POCLAD in 1994.

We have spent nearly the last decade researching corporate, labor and legal histories, rethinking our past organizing strategies and talking with people about democracy movements.

CELDF - Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund

The Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF) was launched in 1995 to provide free and affordable legal services to grassroots, community-based environmental groups, and rural municipal governments. The Legal Defense Fund currently hosts four Program Areas: Grassroots Litigation Support, Grassroots Administrative and Technical Support, Sustainable Communities Program, and The Corporations and Democracy Program.

In particular, CELDF has opened new legal avenues for asserting people's sovereignty through the Corporations and Democracy Program. It drafts Ordinances for local governments and assists organizations to assert direct, local, and democratic control over corporations. Copies of ordinances and the Model Brief to Eliminate Corporate Rights are available at the CELDF site.

WILPF - Women's International League for Peace and Freedom

WILPF has an excellent 10-lesson program on study program on abolishing corporate personhood, which is free for downloading here.

Reclaim Democracy

ReclaimDemocracy.org is dedicated to restoring democratic authority over corporations, reviving grassroots democracy, and revoking the power of money and corporations to control government and civic society.

Dave Ratcliffe's Rathaus

rat haus reality, ratical branch is the electronic manifestation of rat haus reality press, dedicated to promulgating and promoting life-nurturing activities and awarenesses regarding this "home" we all share and are all responsible for, not simply for the seventh generation of humankind yet unborn, but for all life germinated and nourished by Gaia.

Democracy Unlimited of Humboldt County

DUHC educates citizens about the illegitimate seizure of our authority to govern ourselves. We design and implement grassroots strategies that exercise democratic power over corporations and governments. We seek to create a truly democratic society by provoking a non-violent popular uprising against corporate rule in Humboldt County that can serve as a model for other communities across the United States.

Persons, Inc.

Persons, Inc. is a national citizens action coalition campaigning for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution stating clearly that the Bill of Rights is only for individual human beings. We want the Bill of Rights back from the ultra-wealthy who use the corporate form to grant themselves more rights than the rest of us. We won't rest until this happens and the people's sovereignty is restored.

Shays2

Two hundred and eighteen years after post-revolutionary Colonial policies caused devastation among poor farmers, the spirit of Shays Rebellion has never been more important than today. Corporations still derail democracy and use their power against ordinary citizens by buying our public officials and blocking sane changes in agriculture, energy, transportation, health care, manufacturing and social spending. Shays2 is working in Western Massachusetts to educate and organize to end corporate rule.
